The experience of gratitude as a religious experience
Abstract
Our paper reflects on gratitude as a religious experience. First, we show in what sense gratitude can be understood in terms of experience and we outline a temporal interpretation of it. Once these considerations have been made, we differentiate two types of gratitude based on their interpersonal or transpersonal character, to focus on transpersonal gratitude as a place from which it is possible to propose a non-transcendent conception of religion. Finally, we present some of the political implications of gratitude.
