Humanism in medicine
Abstract
The article explores the meaning of the idea of humanism in medicine. In order to do that it proposes, on grounds of Helmuth Plessner work, a phenomelogical view on the links between body and person and following its normative implications for the medical act. After that, it examines the scope that the rule of respecting autonomy has in the understanding of humanism in medicine. Finally, in debate with Sloterdijk, it explains the normative content of humanism in medicine in terms of just generosity.
