Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present some of Edmund Husserl's reflections in the period 1904/05 on the transition from picture consciousness to symbol consciousness based on the text Picture Representations (Pictorial — Symbolic) (1905). For this, first of all, I outline some notes on pictorial and symbolic functions in the period 1904/05. Secondly, I present the translation of the text Picture Representations (Pictorial — Symbolic), annex V to Phantasy and picture consciousness (1904/05). This text is important because its study allows us to understand how picture consciousness can function symbolically through remembering.

Pia Cordero realiza una investigación en el programa de doctorado en Filosofía Contemporánea y Estudios Clásicos, Universidad de Barcelona, financiada por la Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo (ANID), Chile. Máster en Artes con mención en Teoría e Historia del Arte y Licenciada en Filosofía por la Universidad de Chile. Ha sido investigadora residente en el Husserl-Archive de la Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg y en el Centro de Estudios y Documentación del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barcelona.
